At the edge of the cliff, with the Gap accent

What is a photo-theatre safari with Philiboss like? Today, it is Vahina at the edge of the cliff and a theatrical improvisation: “the Gap accent”.

This is what awaits you if you come to Vahina-Paradis B&B: I film Vahina at the edge of the cliff, and I improvise a theatre scene live, on the paths of Châteauvieux.

Vahina, whom I also call Loulou, has sat down at the edge of the canyon. The ground is crumbly, slippery, slippery, slippery. She is right at the edge: she cannot go five centimetres further. I don’t know why she sits at the edge like that.

I call her. She doesn’t move. She is looking at something I haven’t seen. I look in turn: there is nothing. Nothing for me, at least. Then she comes to look at the camera, as if nothing had happened.

I tell you the scene as it is, because it says something honest about the place. Here, nothing is fenced. The grounds are not enclosed, the paths open onto the canyon, and dogs remain under their owners’ responsibility. You know your dog better than we do: a recall that works, an eye on the edges, and the walk is beautiful.

Dog-friendly B&B: what awaits you

  • The photo-theatre safari, included and offered every day from summer 2027: as in this video, photography and live theatre improvisation on the paths of Châteauvieux, with Jean-Philippe Tchifteyan, starting from Vahina’s walk at dawn or sunset. An acting class in the open air, free to join, with no fixed schedule.
  • Your dog is welcome, and so are you without a dog. First dog included, €15 per night from the second, three dogs maximum.
  • Five rooms, breakfast included, one night minimum, free parking.
  • Opening in 2027.

The improvisation: the Gap accent

Then the improvisation goes on, to camera. I take on the accent of Gap, the local one, “gapençais”: “Alors, t’as compris ?” (“So, did you get it?”) And I make up a story live.

A story about a milk can, which a boy of eight or ten goes to fetch at the farm, at Madame Faucon’s. She speaks gapençais to him. She knows very well what life is: she has her head screwed on. Her husband is a very charming man, with a great sense of humour.

In the barn, the heat is such that you nearly faint, and cow dung is everywhere: the barn is covered with it, all brown. You need courage to go in. The boy takes a deep breath and tells himself: “I’m not breathing anymore.” And then, funnily enough, once you are inside, you forget everything.

I conclude in my own way: I will teach it to you, gapençais, everyone should speak it, it’s only natural, it’s the language of the land. Then I wish you sweet dreams.

If your dog does not get along with other dogs, let’s talk before you book. Otherwise, come with him: the Bishop’s Room, on the ground floor with a terrace and garden, was made for that.

Your host: Philiboss, actor and director since 1988, drama teacher, professional photographer. He welcomes you at Vahina-Paradis B&B, Châteauvieux, Hautes-Alpes.
