Making the audience laugh is not the purpose of theatre. In this class, Philiboss teaches the opposite: an art turned inward, one that builds the actor instead of wearing him down.

The Trap for Beginner Actors

A beginner’s first instinct is to walk on stage full of confidence, declaim, and pile up little tricks. He calls out to the audience, performs a one-man show and chases laughs at any cost. Yet what succeeds is not necessarily good for you. Your mental health and your balance are worth far more than applause.

The audience enjoys watching someone unreasonable on stage. The actor, however, pays the price. Philiboss says it plainly: he will not sacrifice his mental health to play comedy. Indeed, hurting yourself for glory, money or success means denying your own human worth. You then deprive yourself of inner happiness.

The questions that will be debated in the lesson

  • Why does Philiboss teach comedy turned inward?
  • How do you grow in order to solve your problems?
  • What is the dynamic scenario?
  • Can you move from real life to the stage?

What the full lesson brings you

  • The whole course, explained step by step as a dialogue between Philiboss, Vahina and Belzébuth, who asks the questions you are asking yourself.
  • Solid references: Vahina sets the ideas beside Stanislavski, Stella Adler, Meisner, Eric Berne and Grotowski, with honest sourcing.
  • Three exercises: the inquiry into yourself, a small action plan, and a one-minute short to film.
  • Seven key points and a final analysis to fix what matters.
  • The Rehearsal Room: you share your video, watch other students’ and receive Philiboss’s advice.

The full lesson, with the Philiboss, Vahina and Belzébuth trio, exercises and the Rehearsal Room, is included in the masterclass subscription at €30/month.
