Photo improvisation is the art of shooting before thinking. Philippe doesn’t teach you technique — he teaches you to see. To truly be present, in the morning light, with Vahina leading the way.
At sunrise
The morning alpine light is a gift. Golden, raking, fleeting. Philippe knows the hours and the angles. Vahina knows the trails.
Vahina as subject
A Siberian husky roaming free in a 100-hectare canyon. Unpredictable, photogenic, alive. No studio can offer that.
All levels · Any device
Smartphone, compact, DSLR, mirrorless — it doesn’t matter. What counts is the eye, not the camera. Beginners and experienced photographers side by side.
The programme · Every morning
An hour in the canyon.
No imposed structure. Just a sharpened eye.
Philippe sets off with Vahina. You follow if you wish. There are no instructions, no imposed exercises. Just the light, the canyon, the dog, and Philippe telling you what he sees in your image.
The walk
Departure from the house at sunrise. Vahina leads. The 100-hectare canyon opens before you. You photograph whatever stops you — landscape, light, Vahina, your dogs, a stone, a shadow.
Philippe’s eye
35 years of dramatic pedagogy applied to reading images. Philippe doesn’t talk about histograms — he tells you what your photo says, what it hides, what it could say.
Around 10am — breakfast
We head back. Philippe prepares breakfast. The morning’s images are discussed around the table — naturally, without obligation. The rest of the day is yours.
